Pete worked as a teacher for sixteen years in a variety of Primary schools in South Manchester. Often assuming the role of Literacy Coordinator, he was able to indulge a genuine love of language with a talent for improving children’s writing and helping children address the many issues that they encounter when trying to write. He experimented with and developed a variety of techniques to enable children to flourish as writers in the classroom and beyond.

A strong advocate of using humour to enhance learning, Pete took this with him when he left the classroom and started to offer consultancy and INSET in schools while working with Ros Wilson and can be guaranteed to keep the laughter levels high. He believes strongly that teachers teach better and children learn better when they fully understand, buy into and enjoy what they are doing and so is most interested in the delivery of practical strategies that really work. His maxim is that every course a teacher attends should give something that they can use with confidence the very next day when back in their classrooms. |
He has delivered training in over two hundred schools in England and further afield in Asia, the Middle East and the USA but the feedback of delegates has been universally good, commenting on the accessibility and practical nature of his training together with his entertaining and engaging style. Unlike some consultants, Pete is quite happy to teach demonstration lessons to ‘real children’ and has done so in many schools. This has allowed him to trial and develop his ideas, ensuring that they really work before passing them on to delegates.
